More weirdness from Chicago

Just as soon as I got finished writing the post below about the 2 1/2 year old check to Chicago Public Radio, I got a text from a 312 (Chicago) area code. All it said was, “Hey lil lady.”
1) I don’t know ANYONE in Chicago.
2) My phone is not in my name. It’s in the hubby’s name, who is definitely not a “lil lady.”
3) My phone number is on my checks, along with my name.
WTF? More mess from that errant check?

  1. Perhaps it’s time for a phone number change. Just saying. You may see more strange things because of the check.

  2. Keep the number. It may help you identify a thief at some point. That’s just too weird.

It is too weird. I went to my bank today and opened a fraud investigation on the check. I can’t see WBEZ cashing that check after 2 1/2 years and it looks like a 5th grader wrote on it.

I think we can safely say no one is on their toes at Chicago Public Radio.

Something is amiss there. I won’t be sending any more checks to them for sure.
