Christmas Cat…Just Because…Months after the fact (or climb)

This is my cousin’s cat, enjoying an indoor tree, obviously placed in the house for its climbing pleasure.

Cute kitty, I didn’t allow my cats to climb the Christmas tree, reason one is that they were into chewing wire, reason two they weighed 20+ lbs. each and I don’t think any Christmas tree will hold 60+ pounds of cat without falling over, and I’m a firm believer that you can teach a cat to stay out of the tree if you give it enough ornaments to bat around and allow them to take them off the tree and play with them at will. I made felt ornaments and wrapped foam balls with yarn and hung them at the bottom of the tree for Missy, Sissy, and Bubba’s pleasure.

I laughed out loud about 60 pounds of cat…but yes, that would bring a tree down. So sweet that you made them ornaments for their Christmas entertainment.

I do too. It’s one of my favorites. I’m thinking of making Xmas cards out of it and sending it back to my cousin, who has no idea I have the photo. It came to me from another cousin, whom he sent it to. Does that make sense? It’s late and I’m so tired I don’t think I’m thinking straight.

  2. Fantastic! He looks as ethereal as the Cheshire Cat himself, although I agree with AZ. Cats and electrical trees don’t mix — at least not with very pleasant results.

Missy, Sissy, and Bubba were the babies of a stray, she had her kittens in my yard; mom was tiny probably about 3 lbs. soaking wet. I thought her kittens would be small too. WRONG! It’s amazing how a steady stream of premium cat food, assorted cat treats, and what human food treats they could beg from us will do to a teeny tiny kitten. All three grew up to be LARGE cats, and I spent the next 19 years fighting for a place in bed because a cat will always spread out like they own your bed.

So funny. Why is the animals always get more bed space than we do? The smaller they are, the more they take too. Our big dog used to be respectful about her space, but Dinky will spread eagle so much no one can sleep with her in a king sized bed. She is so out of it now when she sleeps I rearrange her. Poor old thing.
